Free from Plastic Pollution:
A United Church of Christ Resolution of Witness
WEBINAR RESOURCES
Free from Plastic Pollution
While recycling of plastic seemed like a good solution, only about 9% of plastic produced is actually recycled and 79% collects in landfills or is dumped into the environment. To reduce the problem created by the growing plastic pandemic, two conferences of the United Church of Christ have approved resolutions by their 2023 General Synod (comparable to overtures to the PC-USA General Assembly) to tackle this issue. In our webinar, which coincides with “Plastic-Free July”, Rev. Dr. Robert E Shore-Goss from the Florida Conference and Rev. Robert Grabill of the New Hampshire Conference will join us to discuss these resolutions, the results of the 2023 General Synod vote to approve, and how Presbyterians and all people of faith can help to tackle this crisis.
