Season of Creation: Celebrating God as Creator
Courtenay Willcox will discuss the idea of the decades-old Season of Creation, which takes place from September 1 (Day of Prayer for Creation) to October 4 (Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi), and this year’s theme, “Living Waters”, inspired by Ezekiel 47:1-12. Water heals, restores, and makes creation flourish. But it also challenges us: to recognize ecological damage, to embrace our interconnectedness, and to immerse ourselves in the responsibility of caring for and restoring our Common Home.
Join us to explore this ecumenical initiative, which allows preacher and congregation to hear about God through the lens of God as Creator. Courtenay will explore the history of this annual five-week practice and give preachers and lay leaders a glimpse into this year’s theme. “Living Waters” resources will be released after Pentecost, May 24.
